This is Thiksey - a village about 20km from Leh built around the colourful gompa or monastery at the top
of the hill.
Hemis monastery is one of the largest in the area and is nestled up in the hills above the Indus valley.
Here two Buddhist monks stand at the decorative entrance to the gompa.
This is the huge Buddha inside the monastery - it's about 6 metres high!
